Our Annual Shearing is Done!

 It is now done, all our alpacas has been shorn. We had a blast doing it (not so much for the alpacas though...they don't seem to love having a new haircut...but they will thank us on these hot summer days...) We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the people that came to help us, we greatly appreciate it, THANK YOU!

 Well, winter has officially arrive! Snow, wind & freezing cold, all the elements are here! This will be a calm season for BDA. Our on-farm Boutique changed location for this season into the main house and will only be accessed by appointments. Be sure to contact us first! We expect our next crias only next summer, we can now take a deep breath and be thankful of all the good stuff the year 2008 has giving us. Life is good, let's keep humming...!

 We are very happy to annonce that our on-farm Boutique is now open! Nothing really fancy but we wanted to show some of the possibilities and end products that an alpaca can provide us with. We even have some scarves directly made from the fleece of some of our girls! Beautiful products, good prices. Be sure to ask to see the Boutique when you come for a visit, you are Welcome! Now, if I only could find time to finalize our Boutique "On-Line"...that would be really nice too!


BDA's Second Cria arrived with a Bang!

 Obviously, this year was our "Boy" year! We were waiting for 2 crias this season, both were boys and we are very pleased about these two. However, this birth was not as easy as the previous one and we did need the help of our veterinarian. Fortunately, mom and baby boy made it through and they were just fine at the end! He always seems to be a very happy little boy so we named the cria Felix, it is of Latin origin and the meaning of the name is: "Happy, Fortunate".

 Having the first cria of the year for a farm is very exciting. For us and for the herd! It was a textbook birth and it was a superb sunny day. But man was it hot! In fact, we did had a record temperature for that particular day! New mom Taffy has definitely selected her day to make us sweat to the bones! It was our first cria of the year and our first cria Boy! We decided to name him Zacharie, meaning "God Remembered".

 We are so proud to annonce the arrival of our new farm Herdsire! RGA Cartez arrived all the way from Alberta, Canada. This double-registered macho is so handsome and such an eye catcher! He's a stunning, absolute gentleman and we just can't wait to see his future progeny. Click here to see his chart!
