Welcome to our Farm!

Un Brin d'Alpagas is located in the parish of Saint-Alexis de Montcalm within the beautiful region of Lanaudiere, Quebec, Canada. Thirty minutes from Montreal and two hours from Quebec City!

Founded in 1852, the parish of Saint-Alexis is mainly a farming community. Many ancestral and old houses with particular architecture, still remains in Saint-Alexis. A beautiful illustration of a typical inheritance to the area of Lanaudiere.

About Us

We bought our farm in 2005. We weren't really looking...we just passed by and there it was...for sale! It was love at first sight! We always wanted to have our own farm but nothing really had caught our eyes since this one.

Knowing we wanted to do something special with this farm, the search began. We had absolutely no knowledge of either agriculture or livestock, but we shared the desire to transform our lifestyle and to live in the countryside for a higher quality environment. Being animal lovers, we could not raise anything that would be slaughtered. Having barely an acre of pasture, we had to find something very special. We then discovered, the alpacas!

Not only intensely researching about the alpaca itself, we searched for knowledge about everything that concerns the animal from types of fencing, feed, care, veterinarians and making several visits to some already established alpaca farms.

After getting the grounds ready, we purchased our first four huacaya females in August 2006.

And our alpaca venture began...!

"In good weather, we will sit by the barn on a park bench and warm our souls in the setting sun. Often in curiosity and contentment, the alpacas will sit right in front of us, just like we were part of their herd...!"

You will be greatly missed Mary-Ann. You are in our thoughts always!
